Superintendent's Message - 9/7/18

Published on 9/10/18   Tagged under:    Superintendent

Welcome back! It was a short but successful first week of school here in the SCSD. Thank you to each of you for the role you played this week in helping our scholars start the year off on a positive note.

In case you missed it, there were many #SCSDFirstDay celebrations across the district this week. Van Duyn welcomed community members to greet students as they walked the red carpet; Bellevue hosted a carnival (complete with a pie-the-teacher activity!); and Danforth scholars enjoyed a kickball incentive to help scholars practice teamwork. It was wonderful to see our Syracuse Firefighters visiting elementary schools again this year to show support for our youngest scholars. Of course, you won’t want to miss the first video slideshow of the school year, featuring first day photos submitted by staff, families and community members.

While the year is still new, I encourage you to take a few minutes to review Building Our Future, our new, four-year strategic plan. I look forward to seeing how you incorporate our district priorities into your classrooms, buildings and offices this year!

As we enter our first full week of school next week, please share your good news and photos with us on Twitter by tagging @SyracuseSchools and using #SCSDSuccess. If we can do anything to help support you as you lead our scholars toward success, please let me know.

Enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,
Jaime
