SCSD Libraries Receive Book Donation
Published on 2/20/18
Paul Pflanz and the Syracuse Parks Conservancy recently presented a donation of 27 books to SCSD librarians for use in each school’s library.
The book, ‘Exploring Green in the ‘Cuse – A User’s Guide to Salt City Parks,’ was created by Mr. Pflanz with the sponsorship of the Syracuse Parks Conservancy (SPC) and significant funding from the Onondaga Park Association (OPA). It is intended to provide students and teachers with a wealth of information on the great asset Syracuse has in its city parks system. Copies were also provided to Baltimore Woods Nature Center’s Nature in the City program, which works in partnership with several SCSD schools.
Thanks to the book, students will be able to learn about 71 city parks through pictures and stories. In addition to reading about the opportunities provided in local parks, students at some SCSD schools have also worked with the SPC to create rain gardens.
